Transparency is important to us: that’s why we source our cacao directly from a farm where we have lived and worked. Fundo Qoya is the proud owner – from them we learned the art of cacao cultivation and everything that goes with it. Fundo Qoya and the family behind it not only specialises in the traditional and sustainable cultivation of cacao, but are also committed to the people from the surrounding area – for example, by organising markets and supporting young women.

Since 2014, the farmers has been focusing on the sustainable and fair cultivation of cacao. For example, the family business does not use any pesticides in the cultivation of the plants. Instead, the cacao trees are grown in an agricultural system – a combination of different plants that prevent pests and sustainably promote the growth of the cocoa. The Fundo Qoya cacao plantation is also bordered by 100 hectares of untouched rainforest. The ecosystem creates optimal conditions for the cultivation of cacao plants.

We buy our single-farm cacao directly from Fundo Qoya without middlemen. This way, we not only know where the cocoa grows, but can also inform ourselves directly about the working conditions on site. We pay 45% above the Fairtrade market price.

Even if we do a lot by hand – sometimes we need machines. We get the electricity for our chocolate factory from a nearby hydroelectric power station.

Food? We don’t put them in the (rubbish) bag! That is why we recycle waste products that arise during the production of chocolate. Will it taste good? Try our tea made from cacao shells and see for yourself! We package our chocolatey treats sustainably, for example in jars, compostable film and FSC® certified packaging.

Chocolate is delicious? Then you haven’t tried our roasted cacao nibs yet. With a knack for creative cacao creations, we get the best out of the beans – whether it’s vegan almond milk chocolate, cacao tea or vegan drinking chocolate.
